There are no active lava flows below the pali at this time. However, it is worth to go to the lava even though. You can see a growing community living off grid on the lava. When you go to the end of the gravel road you can experience hot ground and stem vents already after 20 minutes walk into the lava field. After getting dark you can enjoy the beautiful colors of the lava glowing in the distance, the amazing night sky, and soft silver moon light shimmering on the black lava rocks. Simply magic!
